The ‘Tools’ menu contain the following commands:

 

Free RAM Fast

 

Free physical memory using fast algorithm. This operation may take some seconds to complete.

Free RAM Slow

 

Free physical memory using more careful algorithm. This takes more time than previous command, but may free more memory. Important: these two commands do not ‘increase’ real amount of physical memory, they just flush allocated, but currently unused pages to disk.

Clear Clipboard

 

Remove current content from the system clipboard.

Find Opened File(s)

 

Search Processes that opened File(s) or DLL(s). Command shows Search Dialog where you can set filter mask to select needed files.

Flush File Cache

 

Flushes file cache from memory to disk.

Shutdown System /Shut down system

 

Shut down the system normally, it will try to stop all applications gracefully. The system will ask you about waiting for application exiting, you will have a chance to save all unsaved data. You may safely turn off your computer after shutdown is complete.

Shutdown System /Force shut down

 

Emergency shutdown, all applications will be terminated without a chance to save all unsaved data, use it with care! However, it will shutdown the system more quickly than in a previous command.

Shutdown System /Reboot

 

Reboot the system normally. The same as previous command, but the system will be restarted after shutdown.

Shutdown System /Force reboot

 

Emergency reboot, all applications will be terminated without a chance to save all unsaved data, use it with care! However, it will reboot the system more quickly than in a previous command.

Shutdown System /Logoff

 

Logoff from this computer. End current session.

Shutdown System /Stand By

 

Change System State to "Stand By".

Shutdown System /Lock This Computer

 

Lock This Computer.

Shutdown System /Hibernate

 

Change System State to "Hibernate".

Selected Process Tools/ Search Strings in Process

 

Search Strings in Process Modules (in Memory and in Modules Files). Command Shows Search Printable Strings in Executable Dialog

Check for Update

 

Try to connect to TaskInfo website and check if there is a newer version available. If yes, you will be given a link to download the latest version of the program.

 

Progress of some operations is shown in Tools Progress dialog.
